BlackBerry OS 6 Coming In July
In the present phone market where smartphones dominate the news, it’s typical for new and updated operating systems to be as hotly anticipated as the new devices which will be running on them. Just look at the fanfare surrounding the iPhone OS 4 announcement as evidence of this. So, when BlackBerry announced an impending update for their aging BlackBerry OS, lots of people began to take notice.
Being called the BlackBerry 6 the updated Operating System was announced at RIM’s WES conference this week and penciled in for a launch in the next calendar quarter meaning we could expect to see it as early as July. RIM’s co-CEO Mike Lazaridis verified how the brand new Operating system is going to be compatible with both touch screen and non-touchscreen devices all of which will provide deep integration with the new WebKit internet browser.

In terms of backwards match ups, that’s the place where things got intriguing. Lazaridis stated that the business would do its best to backdate BlackBerry 6 so that it works with the current crop of BlackBerry mobile phones. That BlackBerry are attempting signifies that it isn’t a sure thing which indicates BlackBerry may have several new handsets tucked up their sleeve to debut the new OS when it launches later this year.
